Tantec – Fraunhofer Development of InLine Plasma to be used for achieving amino groups |
|
Tantec has been working with the Fraunhofer IST in Braunschweig Germany, on development of the RotoTEC for use with different treatment gasses for the purposes of achieving functional groups on the polymer surfaces.
Morten Thrane – Managing Director Tantec : We have seen a growing potential for our conventional in-line Corona treater, RotoTEC, over the past years and have outsourced the task to Fraunhofer to develop it further in the direction of inline atmospheric-pressure-plasma by using treatment gases, primarily nitrogen and forming gas. Working with Dr. Thomas has given us access to all the necessary know how for being successful with this project.
This new concept with the nitrogen and forming gas assisted in-line RotoTEC, creates higher surface tensions and an ability of docking biomolecules. Normally, such effects need to be achieved under vacuum pressure.
